The yogurt maker for a slow Sunday on the counter

The number that matters here is 48. The listing says this yogurt maker holds a set temperature for up to 48 hours, which covers a 36 hour L. reuteri recipe with room to spare. It comes with two 1 quart glass containers, and the temperature and time are both adjustable.

Two things in the listing are measurements. The first is duration: the maker holds a steady temperature for up to 48 hours, and the listing ties that to popular 36 hour L. reuteri recipes. The second is capacity: two 1 quart glass containers with BPA free lids, which the listing says make about eight 1 cup servings per batch. TruTemp is the name given to the heat regulation that is meant to prevent overheating.

Other claims are closer to marketing. The listing says you can culture trillions of probiotics, but it gives no count per serving and no test results. The health benefits it lists, including gut health, weight management, mood and energy, are worded as things probiotics may support, and nothing in the material shows that this machine delivers them. The line about never buying probiotics again rests on saving one ounce of each batch to start the next.

The listing does not state the temperature range, the wattage, the dimensions or whether the containers can go in a dishwasher. The box includes The Ultimate Yogurt Guide eBook, and the maker carries what the seller calls an unlimited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, though the terms are not given here. A version with eight 6 oz jars is also sold.
