The chocolate protein powder for rushed weekday mornings

Some mornings the only plan is a glass, a spoon and whatever is in the cupboard. This is a chocolate fudge protein powder from Orgain, listed with 21g of organic plant protein and 0g sugar per serving, in a 2.03 lb size.

The protein blend is organic peas, brown rice and chia seeds, and the listing says it covers all 9 essential amino acids. Each serving is listed with 21g of protein and 0g sugar, plus low net carbs and 6g of prebiotic fiber. A serving is 2 scoops and comes to 150 calories, and the 2.03 lb container holds 20 servings.

The free from list is long. It is vegan, gluten free, kosher, Non GMO and made without soy ingredients. It also has no erythritol, carrageenan, lactose, dairy ingredients, artificial colors, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners or preservatives. The listing says third parties verify the USDA Organic and plant based certifications. It does not name what sweetens the chocolate, so the ingredient panel is the place to check if that matters to you.

The listing suggests stirring it into water, almond milk or oat milk, blending it into a smoothie, or adding it to overnight oats and baked goods. Whether creamy chocolate fudge suits you is a matter of taste, and the thickness depends on how much liquid you use. The listing gives no scoop weight or mixing ratio, so that part is trial and error.
