The indoor grill for a rainy weeknight supper

The AG301 is a countertop indoor grill and air fryer that lists five functions: grill, air fry, roast, bake and dehydrate. The numbers that decide it are 500°F, a 4 quart basket, a 6 quart pot and a 10 inch by 10 inch grate.

The listing gives two numbers for heat. The grill grate and the circulating air are both stated at 500°F, and the method is called Surround Searing. It also claims the BTU cooking power of a full size outdoor grill but gives no BTU figure, so that line is marketing, not measurement. Frozen steaks, chicken breasts, burgers and fish fillets are said to come out char grilled in under 25 minutes without thawing.

Capacity is stated more plainly. The grate measures 10 inches by 10 inches, the crisper basket holds 4 quarts and the cooking pot holds 6 quarts. The listing gives no wattage, outside dimensions, weight or cord length, so check those against your counter and outlet. The 75% less fat figure is footnoted to hand cut deep fried French fries, so it describes fries, not every food.

The ceramic coated grate, basket and pot are listed as nonstick, PTFE and PFOA free, and dishwasher safe. The box holds the base, grate, basket, pot, a 15 recipe book and a cleaning brush, with a one year limited warranty. The listing advises unplugging and leaving the hood open to cool. Other versions are a 6 in 1, a 5 in 1 Premium with probe, and a 6 in 1 Smart XL.
