Monday morning trousers that just need to work

A wide leg trouser with a high waist, front pleats and deep side pockets, cut for days that start at a desk and might end somewhere with better lighting. Here is what the listing says about the fabric, the fit and the measurements.

The fabric is 92% polyester and 8% spandex. The listing calls it not thin and not see through, and describes it as soft, breathable and durable enough for daily wear. Polyester is a synthetic fiber, so how it feels is a matter of taste, and the listing gives no weight or weave. One detail is worth reading twice: the listing describes the fabric as non stretch, even with the spandex, and suggests sizing up if you dislike a snug waist.

The cut is tailored and loose, with a high waist, belt loops, front pleats and a full length wide leg. There are two side pockets, said to be deep enough for a phone and a wallet, plus faux pockets at the back, which means they are decoration only. The listing says the straight leg suits curvy shapes and thicker calves and thighs. For size M it gives a 12.2 inch front rise, a 16.7 inch back rise, a 29.7 inch inseam and a 42.1 inch length.

The listing suggests wearing them to the office, for family pictures or on a night out, with tees, crop tops, bodysuits, tank tops, shirts, vests or blazers. It lists Brown, Navy Blue and Mocha Brown as further versions. Care is machine wash, and the item is imported. The listing does not state a waist measurement, a lining or a wash temperature.
