The merino hoodie for cold mornings before the bus

A quarter zip hoodie made from 100% superfine merino wool, cut slim, meant to sit close to the body as a base layer. Here is what the listing says about the fiber, the fit and the care, and what it leaves out, for a closet where every piece has to earn its place.

The fabric is 100% superfine merino wool, listed at 17.5 microns. Micron measures the width of a single fiber, so 17.5 is a fine strand. The listing calls it soft with no itch, though how wool feels is partly a matter of taste, and the listing offers no measurements of comfort. The number 190 g/m² appears in the listing, but the wording does not make clear whether it describes the hoodie, the socks or both.

The cut is described as an athletic slim fit, and the listing says to order a size up if you want a regular fit. The title names a quarter zip and a hood. A pair of merino wool hiking socks is included in the package. The listing says the wool wicks moisture, resists odor and regulates body temperature through all four seasons, and it names running, hiking, hunting and the gym. Those are the maker’s claims rather than measurements, and no size chart is given.

Care is straightforward. The listing allows machine washing on a delicate cycle, but hand washing is recommended, with the piece laid flat to air dry. It is imported, and the maker backs it with what it calls the Merino.tech Promise, whose terms the listing does not spell out. It is also sold in Black, Chocolate and Cherry Red.
