The DrinkMaster, and why the cup is the point

Hamilton Beach has made this drink mixer, in one form or another, since the 1930s. The shape has barely moved, and the reason is the cup.
A spindle mixer does not chop; it shears. That only works if the vessel is narrow enough to force the liquid back through the blade, which is why the 28-ounce stainless cup is fixed in the design rather than an accessory. Two speeds, both slow by blender standards, and a motor that sits above the cup instead of beneath it.
What we like about it
- Two speeds, both deliberately slow — a blender this is not
- 28 oz stainless cup, part of the mechanism rather than an extra
- Metal housing on the classic finishes; the coloured ones are painted metal, not plastic
