The at home IPL device for a slow Sunday evening

The Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 is an IPL hair removal device made for women and men. The listing describes a plan of two sessions a month for three months, and a sensor that reads skin tone and adjusts each flash. Here is what the specification says, and what it leaves out.

This is an at home IPL device for hair reduction, and the listing says it is for women and men. It names legs, arms, underarms, bikini, face, chest, back and pubic areas as places it can be used. Two heads come in the box, one standard and one precision, and the listing says the multiple settings and heads help customize treatment by body area. It says effectiveness is clinically proven on facial, body and pubic hair.

The listing says a full body treatment takes 10 minutes, with two sessions a month for three months. It claims visible results from the second use, up to 95% hair reduction in one month, and up to two years free from hair. Those figures carry footnotes, and the listing says they rest on app data from consumer self assessment between November 2023 and April 2024, and that individual results may vary. Read them as the maker’s claims.

On safety, the listing says it is dermatologically and gynecologically approved. The SensoAdapt skin tone sensor adjusts each flash, and a UV filter makes it eye safe, so no protective glasses are required. It does not state the price, or which skin tones and hair colors it suits. The box also holds a Venus Extra Smooth Swirl razor (model may vary) and a vanity case.
